According to mythology, the festival is celebrates the killing Holika, the sister of Hrinyakashyapu. It is celebrated sometime in the month of March, usually in the latter half of the month. The festival falls on the last full moon day of Falgun according to Hindu calendar. Holi is a festival of colors, celebrated primarily in India.
